Painter Emanuel Leutze was born in Germany and emigrated to America in his youth. He became well-known regionally for his painting, especially portraits, and returned to Germany to paint and study from 1841 through 1859. Stephen Minor, a planter of the Concord Plantation, was a governor of the Spanish district of Natchez and a mayor of the town of Natchez, Mississippi. His son, William J. Minor (1807-1869) married Rebecca A. Gustine of Philadelphia and had 7 sons and 1 daughter. William J. Minor owned and operated the Hollywood and the Southdown plantations in Terrebonne Parish and the Waterloo Plantation of Ascension Parish, Louisiana.
